About the Accident

Kimberly was taken from this world on May 7, 2004, at 3:15 p.m.,
at the age of 16 years old.  She was a passenger in her
best friend, Becca’s, car.  They were in the process of going to purchase
Mother’s Day presents when the accident occurred.  While stopped at a
highway construction zone, they were flagged through by a flagger who was
not paying attention to her job.  An earthmover, which weighed approximately
41 tons, struck the vehicle on Kimberly’s side and ran over the vehicle.
Kimberly was pronounced dead at the scene.

The following are pictures of the vehicles involved.  As you can see
from the vehicle that Kimberly was in, it was definitely a miracle that
Becca survived.

Kimberly was laid to rest on May 12, 2004, at the Clovis District Cemetery.
Over three hundred people attended her funeral, including her classmates and
teachers.  I would personally like to thank each and everyone of the people
that attended, provided flowers, plants, and contributed to Kimberly's funeral
and the open house afterwards.  Each and everyone of you made this tragic
time in our family's life more bearable.
